As most of you know, I really enjoy picking the bones out of things and often cannot help myself when it comes to being critical of stuff that others make for nuke.
This is not because I am any 'better' than the next guy, far from it. It is usually because I can look at something and feel that it could have been so much better if they had done this or done that.

Most often, I see the same old piece of junk being re-used over and over with no real innovation, no real understanding of the underlying process or problems and this is particularly the case with themes.

I'm not trying to flame all the theme designers here, they work really hard on the images and stuff they put into their themes but the fact remains that the underlying theme 'core' which they are putting their images on is a pile of inefficient doo doo and always has been.

I have had my nukecoder.com table-less themes (yes I have more than one) for a while now and I am annoyed as hell because I just cannot fault them. The underlying code is extremely clean and compact but until you buy one and see for yourself you will never see the light.

haha cant find fault , i like it

I have to admit my coding is not as good as i would like it to be when i make my themes. Im currently making one for Ravens Distro, which will hopefully be exclusive for there new release.

I know for a fact its going to get ripped to hell by everyone so i know its got to be of extreme excellence !

Im about 60% done and gotcha has helped me no end with problems i have come across, and i thank him very much as a friend and fellow designer !

And your right Guardian, Gotcha is bringing new life to nuke and thats what it needs

xGSTQ - thanks for putting in the effort!
The problem with nuke themes in general is that no one has ever looked at them from both the design aspect and underlying code.
We have had coders tidy some of the core code and themers have done their bit by compensating for browser issues etc but it has never been tackled together - though it has now!

Some have tried in the past but often, time gets in the way and frustration doesn't help which means attempts are just put to one side and forgotten about.

If you have a rusty fender, you can keep patching it and giving it a re-spray but sooner or later you are going to have to buy a new fender. At least with gotcha's table-less themes, you know it's a plastic fender so it isn't ever going to rust in the first place. Smile

I will come down heavy on anyone I find ripping it but I really do hope that others learn from them because the community needs good themes Smile

Code:

http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http://www.yourdomain.com

That checks for 2.1
To check for 3 just replace in the url above css21 with css3

Edit by G: - they do not have an 'offical' link to the css3 validator as it is still a standard under development, I discovered the uri by accident Wink
